🧭 Digital Heritage Mapping & Documentation Expert – Directorate General of Archaeology, Punjab
The Directorate General of Archaeology, operating under the Tourism, Archaeology & Museums Department, Government of Punjab, is pioneering a new phase of heritage preservation — not with chisels and brushes, but with 3D scanning tools, GIS layers, and digital archives.
As part of its “Capacity Building Initiative” (ADP Project), the department is seeking a Digital Documentation Specialist to lead efforts in capturing, modeling, and preserving architectural, archaeological, and cultural assets across Punjab. This is a project-based role based in Islamabad, with tenure until June 30, 2027, or until project completion.

🛠️ Core Responsibilities
As the Digital Documentation Specialist, you will:
- Conduct 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and LiDAR mapping of heritage sites
- Develop digital archives using image processing and geospatial datasets
- Use GIS tools to map archaeological landscapes and site boundaries
- Create digital twins of historical monuments for research and conservation
- Collaborate with architects, conservationists, and heritage managers to ensure data accuracy
- Manage digital asset libraries and ensure data standardization
- Support public engagement via virtual exhibitions, maps, or digital storytelling tools
🎓 Who Should Apply?
We’re looking for tech-savvy heritage professionals with:
- A Bachelor’s (minimum 16 years of education) in:
- Information Technology
- Architecture
- Digital Media
- Computer Science
- Geomatics or any related field
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in:
- 3D digital documentation or laser scanning
- GIS mapping for cultural resources
- Digital heritage content creation
- Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, ArcGIS/QGIS, Revit, Rhino, Agisoft Metashape, Blender, or similar
- Strong documentation, research, and coordination skills
- Prior work in cultural heritage, archaeology, museums, or urban conservation is a plus
